Ca' Rezzonico, Venice

#3 of 76 in Museums in Venice
After years of renovations and changing ownership, Ca' Rezzonico> became a public museum in 1936. A Venetian patrician family named Bon commissioned the palazzo, though they never saw it completed. The skeleton of the unfinished palazzo was bought by Giambattista Rezzonico, who wrapped up the project and gave the interior the opulent decor you see today. The frescoes painted on the state room ceilings are the best-preserved in all of Venice. American songwriter Cole Porter partied underneath these same frescoes when he rented the palazzo for $4,000 a month in the 1920s. In 1935, the attraction was handed over to the city and became a venue for displaying 18th-century art among the sumptuous furnishings. • It is certainly worth visiting this Venetian Palace. We had the gift of go in winter and they played us two days that it snowed in Venice just in time for the end of February, a show seen from the Palace all snowy rooftops of the city. The Palace is great but runs in the hour and a half approximately, your furniture and decoration are exquisite, as well as pictures that are exposed. Admission is 10 euros. It is worth to pay for it!

  • It doesn't have to be the Dodge's palace if you want to see impressive architecture and some art. I just seized every opportunity to escape the crazy crowd of people. In comparison to the Dodge's palace, this is a quiet place. Also the place features an antique statue of guy face-palming.
  • Great collection of paintings, furniture and interior decorations with focus on oriental motifs and venetian baroque. As a nice bonus some of the windows offer great views of the city around the place.
  • Nice visit. Half stately palace and half art gallery. Went as it was included with my museums pass, otherwise probably wouldn't have gone. Not sure if I would pay full 10 euros, but then again I'm not a classical art aficionado. Still great visit and friendly staff. Cafe with savory and sweet foods.
  • Beautiful residence converted to a museum. Gives a good impression of how noble Italians might have lived a few hundred years ago.
  • Amazing artwork and when you reach the top, there are several windows where you can see some of the canals and small streets. It was reasonably priced as well and the audio guide was very helpful.
