  • We were persuaded to visit because we heard the museum one of the top attractions in Venice. We aren't knowledgeable about modern art so we weren't sure what to expect and so had an open mind. We had ...  more »
  • The collection is so wonderful that the comments of a layman would be superfluous or downright annoying. I will just praise small but significant plus: descriptions of the artworks with extensive comments, always in English and in Italian, courtesy of the operators, and when we were there my wife and I, an Assistant so kind and knowledgeable to provide us with certain information, including anecdotal evidence, exhibits and structure, to whom our special and cordial thanks. The stage at the Guggenheim is a must for enthusiasts, scholars or experts in modern and contemporary art.

  • Very interesting collection. Particularly those who like interpreting abstract art. A lot of the collection needed the right mindset to indulge the artists.. It was a good and pleasant experience. I'd advise the physical or audio guide to provide more information during the tour.
  • A "who's who" of modern abstract art, incredible collection. Good audio guide. Not so large as to be overwhelming, although even off peak (in October) there were a lot of people and it felt a little crammed. Lovely garden and cafe. Recommended.
  • This place was a very moving experience for me. It perhaps was a highlight of visiting the entire beautiful city here. What moved me was the personal picture of Ms. Guggenheim that I felt. And it was touching to look at and read some of the personal pictures and notes from prominent artists to her.
  • Fantastic collection of contemporary/modern cubist, surrealist and abstract art. Absolutely loved the fascinating temporary exhibition which doesn't cost additionally to your entry ticket. Discounted price for students. Good layout and lovely terrace overlooking the canal to take a sit down half way through. Informative plaques. No queue for entry even in the height of August tourist season. Lovely cafe and gift shop too.
  • Nice little gallery, you can see the whole thing without getting footsore. The house & grounds are a beautiful setting for the paintings and sculptures. The surreal & abstract art are interesting for the uninitiated. Situated in a nice corner of Venice (they're all nice).

Where to stay in Venice

Save money and avoid tourist crowds by booking your accommodation outside the historical center of Venice. Central Venice is full of picturesque canals and narrow lanes, but it is also extremely noisy and hectic throughout the day and late into the night. You can explore the ancient city's charms at your own pace by staying at a comfortable B&B or small hotel located in the city's residential suburbs. To stay close to the finest beaches and restaurants, check into a hotel on the island of Lido, the city's famous seaside resort.
