Mount Koyasan, Koya-cho

World Heritage Site and headquarters of the Shingon sect of Japanese Buddhism, Mount Koyasan blends nature and spirituality in utmost harmony. The monk Kūkai first settled here in 816 CE as a retreat from the courtly intrigues of Kyoto; an eternally lit mausoleum in the middle of the immense east-side graveyard pays tribute to him. Visit the western side as well, to see a temple complex with a Kanpon Daitō pagoda in its center. Explore some of the 100 wooden temples dotting the area, and the nearby town's university dedicated to religious studies. • 11 April 2017, Nankai Electric Railway Co., stopped 21 typhoon damage. Currently the Hashimoto-transfer transport by bus transport at the Koyasan station. There is bus come frequently, but still not timed and wait a long time. First of all, if you arrive at Hashimoto station aligned to that. Also when you return to the Koyasan station on Mt. koya in the bus to ensure as much as possible in front of one hand ← be deferred to from before the passengers get off the bus. Not sure what would happen after the season now leaves at their best because they are in the Koyasan buses also have extraordinary.

  • Because it came at the end of October, a high-altitude was already piling leaves. I can see the gate from Kobo Daishi's mausoleum of the up is about 4 kg, so good enough. It is fun walking sights are scattered right and left, stopping on the way. Hashimoto station because bus service transportation was flooded due to a typhoon but unfortunately on the day ahead of Nankai line some sections and suspended, so spent much time. (From Hashimoto's about 1.5 hours) it takes about 1 month to recover, so caution is required.
