Nara Park, Nara

4.6
#1 of 424 in Wildlife in Japan
Take a stroll among verdant trees and peaceful shrines of Nara Park, established in 1880. The park shelters relatively tame herds of sika deer, free to roam the lawns and gardens at will. Wander through groves of willows and cherry trees to spot picturesque ponds and admire numerous temples sprinkled throughout the park. The deer, although friendly, occasionally exhibit aggressive behavior in the presence of food--if you wish to feed them, purchase some rice crackers and keep your snacks away from their sight. At the beginning of the Park looking for the deer and then sinking into the Park we find much! They have good guys and everyone likes to take selfies. Then there is a whole trade selling cookies to give to the deer which is a shame because the deer are herbivores and more people who had bought themselves with a dozen deer around them growing or aggressive to have their cookie. There are even people who gives them plastic bags or paper to eat it is deplorable! To share people's behavior is really to see!

You can relax, and there are a lot of deer park on the lawn weather permitting. There are lots of wild deer. Not in Japan many of deer in the grounds in Japan! Confusing parking, souvenirs and Claus, manages a parking lot or the souvenir shop in shopping bag then you discounted parking. Recent NARA Park deer deer not eat well and please note that you will be surrounded with food. You may come to like bowing the head butt. In the Park near Todai-ji Temple, located near NARA Temple, Kasuga Taisha Shrine, dining, Mt. wakakusa in February. If these would one day 10 minutes helpful above five.

Beautiful park at the heart of Nara. Very touristy, however the further you go, the less people there will be. There are various temples up the hill that you can visit, so don't miss out. In the summer there are music festivals in the park as well. We accidentally stumbled upon an Oktoberfest celebration in June and it was great getting in the mix of the locals and enjoy some imported German beer.

This place is awesome. We had a great time walking around the park, the recommended walk is very pretty, and of course, there are deer everywhere! You can buy deer crackers for 150, and the deer are incredibly friendly and playful. They do give you little nudges or nibbles to remind you to feed them!

Very beautiful and a nice place for a day tour from Okayama. Make sure to walk around the whole park and see the different temples and shrines and buildings. A bit of a walk if its warm, but worth it. There are busses from the station though.

Very interesting experience as you can get up close to the deer and feed them. That's definitely the highlight of the place, however after you run out of food there isn't much to do other than admire the deer. Also a good place to purchase souvenirs.

This park is so cool! Deer will walk straight up to you! You can pet them, feed them, hug them, pose for photos, and more! Just be careful because they are technically still wild animals. Overall it was a very cool and unique experience.
