A big city with a small-town feel, Portland is home to the country's biggest rose test garden, perched on a hill overlooking downtown.Shop till you drop at Powell's City of Books and Blue Heron French Cheese Company. Get in touch with nature at Manzanita Beach and Fort Clatsop National Memorial. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Portland: Oregon Garden (in Silverton), Cape Meares Lighthouse (in Tillamook) and Silver Falls State Park (in Sublimity).
