Many urban centers call themselves "Garden City," but thanks to its many manicured parks filled with native and exotic plants, Victoria probably deserves than moniker more than most.
Royal BC Museum and Eagle Feather Gallery will appeal to museum buffs. Take a break from the city and head to Kayaking & Canoeing and Quimper Park. Step out of Victoria with an excursion to Witty's Lagoon Regional Park in Metchosin--about 30 minutes away. There's much more to do: take in nature's colorful creations at The Butchart Gardens, browse the fresh offerings at Glenwood Meats, stop by Beehive Wool Shop, and take a leisurely stroll along Inner Harbour.

A big city with a small-town feel, Portland is home to the country's biggest rose test garden, perched on a hill overlooking downtown.
