Dubai Spice Souk, Dubai

3.1
#8 of 96 in Shopping in Dubai
Explore the scents, flavors, and colors of Emirati cuisine at Dubai Spice Souk, a traditional market. Wander the multitude of covered streets, taking in sights of sacks overflowing with spices, herbs, and fruits. Independent vendors will offer you a glass of tea and tell you all about their proudly displayed stock. If something strikes your fancy, remember that haggling is the norm here, so try your best to get a fair price. Take your camera with you to snap shots of the artfully arranged stalls and the traditional local produce. Dubai Spice Souk is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our online itinerary creator, Dubai Edition.

  • It is market, but hard to see to find any reason to go there as in supermarkets you can enjoy the same (we liked in Mall of Emirates) spice stands while in Gold Souk & Spice Souk it gets very hot even...  more »
  • Had a guide person's attention and was visited Souk spice souks more go to local people, we went is safe to shop at the entrance in tourist souks, but go in the back and slightly dangerous, so pepper and saffron bought in a shop near the entrance. Any shop talk is intense. That is hardly "nihao". Shop their products are very cheap, good quality always says. To people who've been longer business travellers always haggle in here I was told that bargaining is quite tedious. Special price best supermarket in the Mall who think cheap as was not since the credit card and buy a beautiful package. 500 g black pepper is 30 drachm. 500 g white pepper is 50 drachm. Products of major manufacturers in Japan is mostly made in Viet Nam, for Arab pepper flavor is strong. I bought a absolutely great deals and encouraged the Saffron in the middle of forced because the vessel was beautiful in Arabic. Price is 50: 1 in Japan for sure but considering the applications and amount is much too much. Women desperate sellers because 旅慣renai requires attention.

  • You must take in a Gold Souk & Spice Souk while here in Dubai for the experience of a life time. The good old bartering system works well here and the selection and smells are out of this world you ca...  more »

  • Traditional market not just a walk on the mall. It has its own charm, I am always amazed to visit traditional places so this one place I keep visiting each time I go to Dubai. Also price wise things are much cheaper here than buying from a shopping mall. Recommended for at least one visit for toursits.
  • Lots of spice shops available selling a fantastic array of spices as well as many other items such as dried fruit, tea (loose leaf as well), crockery, kitchenware, bags, toys, clothes.. It is a tourist attraction and the shop owners / workers know it so be prepared to have high prices quoted! Know approximate prices for what you're going for just in case..
  • Not very interesting. Many local people try to sell something to you. Old town of Dubai. Not as splendid As the new part. It is crowded, dirty and backward. Not very easy to get there. Be very cautious when you want to buy Sone spices, especially some expensive ones, such as saffron. The price is OK but you must know How to judge saffron and radish.
  • One of the few old world charm places in Dubai. Unfortunately most of spice shops have turned into tourist shops. Still one can see some exotic spices with medicinal values being explained by the shopkeepers.
  • Absolutely fresh spices available in very reasonable prices. Bargaining is mandatory to ensure that you don't end up paying high prices. Must buy saffron, menthol, green tea, origano, different flavours of essential oil. The market is open till 11pm officially. But most shops close by 10-10:30pm. Take enough time in hand before visiting.
