Eldorado Canyon State Park is part of the Colorado State Park system. It is located in Boulder County near the city of Boulder. The park consists of two areas, the Inner Canyon (developed area) and Crescent Meadows (undeveloped area). The park encompasses 885acre with a variety of recreation opportunities available. Eldorado Canyon is home to one of the world's most accessible and comprehensive rock climbing areas. This state park is open during daylight hours only, visitors are expected to leave before dusk. A fee is required for entry, except on Colorado Day (August 1) when all state parks are free.HistoryUte Indians were the first inhabitants into this area that is nestled against the foothills near Boulder. The Indians lived within the walls of the canyon because they provided protection from the harsh Colorado winters. Settlers soon followed in search of gold and agriculture. Eldorado Canyon is famous for its spectacular geologic history dating back billions of years. Near the park’s entrance at the visitors center, there are rocks calculated to be over 1.5 billion years old.At the beginning of the twentieth century, the town of Eldorado Springs was established and was known as a resort for the elite. The town offered visitors warm artesian springs and lush hotels, including the Crags Hotel, the Eldorado and the Grand View. Numerous celebrities and Denver residents enjoyed the beautiful getaway until a fire burned all these hotels in 1912.The town also received considerable attention between 1906 and 1949, when Ivy Baldwin performed tight rope acts across the canyon 580ft. Like Ivy Baldwin, many visitors enjoy the spectacular views of the park from a higher perspective, but these visitors prefer rockclimbing to a tight rope.Make Eldorado Canyon State Park a part of your Eldorado Springs vacation plans using our Eldorado Springs tour itinerary builder tool .

There are multiple entrances, both offer a beautiful view. Always enjoy the picnic area on the creek, very peaceful spot. During winter, it can be a little tricky to walk around with the ice patches. ... more »
We took a picnic here and ate by a idyllic stream. There is a cute visitors' center where my son bought a bird book and they had a list of state parks I wish I would have taken. I noticed they had kid... more »

The climbing history here goes way back. It's truly an inspiration. The hiking is also good although there are only a handful of established trails. The staff is always very nice and helpful. Most crags have wag bags available if you forget to use the toilet before your adventure begins.
We love Eldorado. Been here a number of times. Great place for people who aren't used to the altitude to start a hike. The hike to the hotel and continental divide overlook on rattlesnake gulch trail is really cool. Not super strenuous. Half shade half sun.
I love this area, it's so beautiful! They're so many different trails and dogs are welcome. I always have a good time. Although, expect to not find parking on black Friday. If you park on the street where they're no 'no parking' signs, you will get a ticket.
Fabulous! Such a gorgeous place! The sceneries are awesome while hiking on the trails! If you love hiking and are in a good shape, try to arrive early to hike all the trails. Each trail takes about 3 hours round trip (assuming you have quite a bit of hiking experience)!
Neat little hiking area near the Denver metro. Easy drive about 5 minutes into the mountains. No real amenities besides a spring pool. There are plenty of rock climbers to watch or join in. Fairly short and easy trail as well leading to a view of the continental divide.
