Hours: Must be the first to arrive, 8 am, between less people, more likely to climb the mountain several times. Team: I recommend to rent the equipment previously, it is cheaper in stores in Denver and not lose time in rows. Food: I think it is expensive, it is best to carry water, a sandwich and search where to eat after skiing first time? Kinds of first order, is the best investment, there because it hurt.
Had a great time. Lots of options with lifts and runs from green to double black. Easy to get to with the main parking lot. Closest to the first lifts we've seen! more »
This was my husband and I’s first time skiing. We had an amazing time! I definitely recommend ski lessons. It is not as easy as it looks. My husband thinks it’s always dumb to pay for lessons for anyt... more »
This is perfectly acceptable ski resort. Plenty of acreage and long enough runs and nice and close to downtown Denver. Just know going in that the lifts are slower (The reason I am giving four stars instead of five). So if you are about getting lots of runs and high-speed chairs are important to you, this is not your place. Very affordable for families. Don't overlook it, try it at least a day.
If you are a beginner skier or snowboarder you won't find a better deal on lessons and rentals in the area. Very reasonably priced food, staff are awesome and very helpful. You can bring your own food if you wish, and there are lockers that you can put your stuff (but they are kinda small so use smaller backpacks).
It might be cliché but this is where the locals ski... there is a valley just for beginners and an awesome basin for the more dare devils. By planning your routes you can cross the Continental divide before lunch. The best part at four clock you’re at the front end of the traffic
The reason I'm giving Loveland only 3 stars is based on my 1st time ski class experience. The instructor was very nice as was all the staff I encountered. And what I saw of the instructors for children I'd say you get a lot of bang for your buck at Loveland. They were great with kids!! Our instructor wanted us to follow him down and frustratingly I fell and didn't know how to get up. Nor did I get help from my instructor. He waited at the bottom with the class, he finally came up to check on me after another fall where I ended up walking down exhausted. I wasn't ready to progress with the class and was just left behind. I've heard other resorts will make sure students are paired with instructors at the level they're at midday. I did pay for a whole day lesson, but only received half a day of instruction. My class had moved on up the mountain and I was left alone with no instructor Based on my experience, is recommend not having your first lesson at Loveland ski area Loveland is affordable, I'll give it that
Loveland's prices and proximity to the Front Range make it a very practical option for skiers and riders, but that's not even my favorite thing about Loveland. The mountain receives some excellent snow, and LOTS of it. Terrain is terrific at Loveland. And the people who ski and work there are so friendly and down to earth. There's no lodging right at the ski area, which means there aren't a lot of tourists like there are at other resorts in the area. (Especially the Vail Resorts!) This ski area is hard to beat in Colorado.
