  • We have done this drive a few times and have hiked to the waterfall. It is a great place to spend the day and close to town for relaxing when done.  more »

  • I love driving on this Nature Trail. It is wonderful in every season. I went late fall and the views were spectacular. I was so sad to see some of the area that was burnt by the Gatlinburg fires. You could see some new growth & that was so comforting to see. There are a lot of turnouts to stop at. Many old homes and barns to explore . Loads of places to take short hikes. Some waterfalls & streams along the way too. Just love the ability to explore. Road in excellent condition. If weather bad the rangers will close road.
  • This was the highlight of our vacation to Gatlinburg. We had to escape the tourist trap of a town and get out into nature. Would definately do this drive again. There are spots you can pull over to get out and stretch your legs. Wouldn't recommend attempting this in too big of a vehicle though, as it was very tight in some areas.
  • Great opportunity to see water falls. Grotto 2.8 mile and Rainbow approx 5.5 miles. Even on the drive there are waterfalls you can pull off to take pictures of. Drive took under a hour we went in the afternoon.
  • Great road to take in the scenery of the Smoky Mountains.Great scenery, good place to see waterfalls and historic buildings and of course if you are interested in flora many beautiful wildflowers during the spring and summer. In the fall good place to see fall foliage.
  • Nice peaceful scenic drive. The only problem is fighting the Gatlinburg traffic to get there. We have seen a black bear on the drive so keep a lookout. Stop at the old homesteads and be amazed that these hardy settlers could eke out a living in such a rocky and mountainous terrain.
