  • Went here with a friend and we had an absolute blast! Mike in particular was professional and gently educated us that the butterflies only live up to 2 weeks. We had no idea!! I LOVED the indoor cave with the waterfall. Technically though, I love the whole place! Upstairs is hot and humid but there's an upstairs exhibit to educate and cool off. There was a variety of butterflies! We sat down for a while and multiple butterflies landed on us! One young man had 4 on him at once! It was a pleasure to observe the butterflies fly socially. The resting butterflies would get pounced on by other butterflies. It was such a wonderful experience for my friend and I. I highly recommend visiting this exhibit!
  • I absolutely love this place!!!! The employees are so nice and it’s a beautiful place to be and relax with your family . Of course weekdays are less crowded. I usually bring snacks but their is a McDonald’s in the open museum space. The bathrooms are clean but could use a renovation. It’s hot and humid in there so be prepared to take off layers. The cave looking area downstairs is a cool temperature so that helped. They have plenty to do, see, and learn for every age. I have never not enjoyed myself there.
  • I LOVE this attraction at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. This attraction requires an additional fee after paid admission or even if you are a member of the museum ($4 for museum members and $8 for non-members), but the fee is quite reasonable and worth every penny for an up close and magical viewing experience with gorgeous lepidoptera. Seriously. MEGA-sized moths and vibrant butterflies...everywhere. I love lepidoptera and this environment is full of live specimens surrounded by beautiful botanical and water features---its exciting and serene at the same time. The attraction also has an education center in the Brown Hall of Entomology with encased live and dead specimens and interactive learning areas. I could easily spend two hours alone just in the Cockrell Butterfly Center and Brown Hall of Entomology exhibits. It's not just educational, it's purely enjoyable. The conservatory is humid and balmy, but so worth it. Go...you will love it...bring your camera or smart phone...this place is a photography and nature-lover's paradise!
  • Incredibly beautiful butterflies all within a more natural environment for them to thrive and fly. On this day, everyone seemed respectful of the habitat and the butterflies themselves. I remember the amazement I felt 20-some odd years ago when I went for the first time, and seeing that same amazement my own daughter's face was worth the price of admission.
  • Great place for a date !!! Only $9 admission for adults and definitely worth more than that. There are a lot of butterflies and youre able to interact with them. There is also a big iguana. Fun learning experience for people of all ages.
