  • There are several museums to be discovered in this district. Possibility of free parking for 3 hours = visiting a museum. Menil collection: several Magritte and Max Ernst different works are the highlight of this museum. The fine arts museum with collections given by wealthy American families and about European artists. A few impressionists beauty, Picasso, Miro, Matisse... that we rarely get to see in France.La Italian and Spanish painting is well represented also. In the second building, are the civilizations of the world that are exposed. Magnificent. Note, Thursday is a free day, offered by an oil company. In January, we had the Museum for us, which doesn't seem to be the case often!

  • I don't know about you, but I don't like to have my intelligence insulted. Especially, at such a serious place like the Holocaust Museum. It is totally ruined by Political Correctness. On the other ha...  more »

  • Had a great time out to dinner there last night. A friend suggested it and so happy we went! Make sure to make a reservation because it was even busy on a Monday night. The staff was great and worked us in while my boyfriend and I waited at the bar enjoying a cocktail. The bartender was professional and fun - even making sake suggestions. The ambiance was great - intimate, clean, artistic, and romantic. The portions for the appetizers are small but the quality there so they are totally with it. I would highly recommend the avocado ball and the peppers to start. All of the rolls we ordered were great too and my boyfriend loved his Hamachi Kama. It was an incredible dining experience and I would highly recommend this as a dinner destination to friends.
  • Upscale Japanese restaurant. Very eclectic and elegant. Food is delicious and service is very professional. Try the Japanese Old Fashion cocktail and the spicy scallops nigiri, you won't be disappointed. Perfect for a date.
  • Spectacular meal with the wife and two dear friends. Really enjoyed everything we ate and the service was great. Beautiful interior
  • It has been months since my visit to MF, and I still remember it. The sushi was really amazing. I remember the fish having that soft, silky, buttery texture that just melts onto your tongue. Also, the mochi was pretty much perfect. My only complaint was that despite having a reservation, we waiting nearly 45 minutes to be sat. I usually don't mind waiting to be seated, because I understand that the restaurant can't force people to finish and leave exactly at a certain time. BUT, it was difficult to get drinks from the bar due to the very crowded bar/host area, and the large number of guests filling up the bar top to dine. Adding a cocktail server on busy nights might help keep people happy - drinking people are happy people!
  • Dropped by on a Monday night and the sushi chef was in (normally night off so no omakase). I asked if he might indulge me and he said yes to omakase for one. He is not only a chef, but he is an artist and surgeon. The options he provided were nuanced and divine. A spectacular array of flavors and tastes with a flare and focus on service. If you love sushi you have to try MF.

Where to stay in Houston

If you come to Houston to splurge while on holiday, book a luxurious room at a downtown hotel. This area is an ideal base for getting to know Houston, offering you a chance to stay within walking distance of one of the country's largest theater districts. Houston bills itself as the "Energy Capital of the World," so it's no surprise that it houses many "green" hotels, their garages designed to cater to electric vehicle owners. For something completely different, enjoy a Texas country experience at a working ranch outside the city limits.
