  • We completely enjoyed the Lights and we have done Moody Gardens and the Santa Wonderland Attractions and although it was a lot of Monies for 5 tickets it was by far the best Bang for your Buck!!! The walk was not that long and there were lots of Photo Spots. Add to that, they have Stroller and Handicap Carts to Rent. Enjoyment all the way around!!!! We have the Free Holiday Walk-Through so we are grateful for the Zoo Lights staying Open after the Holiday Season. That way we were able to enjoy!! See y'all Next Year!!!!
  • The Houston Zoo is one of the best places in Houston to visit if you're an animal lover or looking for a place to take the kids for something fun and different I've been several times over the last few years and I have to say I've always enjoyed the things I've seen there. The animals are well taken care of and the place is huge, giving you lots of different sights to see. One of my favorite times to visit is during the Christmas holiday because that's when Zoo Lights takes place. This is where the entire zoo is lit up in amazing displays of Christmas lights after the sun goes down. This is a separate event from regular zoo admission but well worth the price to go and see. I'd recommend this to anyone who is new to Houston or visiting from out of town. I've gone with kids, friends, and relatives that we've brought from overseas and everyone has enjoyed it. You won't regret visiting this place.
  • I love all the different animals! They have several photo opportunities. Lots of walking room. You could easily spend the day there plenty to see. They also have a Trading post bring in cool things to share and show off. Check the website for more ideals
  • Visited December 26, 2017, on a rainy Tuesday after Christmas. We went fully expecting the prospect of enjoying any outdoor activities to be hampered by the weather, and it was an overall positive experience. While the inclement weather seemed to have kept many visitors away, keeping the crowd size small and lines short, the downside was that many animals were not out and about. Our daughter would have loved seeing primates and more big cats, but was nonetheless excited to see the elephants, giraffes and rhinos. Despite the dreary weather, the staff were cheerful and professional. Rainy day discount would be certainly appreciated. This being our first family visit, we'd consider the membership a worthwhile investment, if we lived in Houston.
  • We love the zoo. A wide variety of animals, plenty of places to take a rest and cool down, and you can bring in outside food and drink. The habitats are relatively spacious, the animals are well cared for, and the entire experience is very educational. I would definitely recommend it.

Where to stay in Houston

If you come to Houston to splurge while on holiday, book a luxurious room at a downtown hotel. This area is an ideal base for getting to know Houston, offering you a chance to stay within walking distance of one of the country's largest theater districts. Houston bills itself as the "Energy Capital of the World," so it's no surprise that it houses many "green" hotels, their garages designed to cater to electric vehicle owners. For something completely different, enjoy a Texas country experience at a working ranch outside the city limits.
