  • Has great variety of works of art, of different cultures and eras, are two buildings, I am not much of art, but I was to learn and I feel it was a good visit, they let you take photo inside the Museum, this 5 min walking from the Herman Park

  • What a spectacular museum! Great collections, well-curated, cool events (we attended "Home" Happy Hour on 1/5/18) and very nice staff. Loved the Impressionism and Post-Impressionism as well as Europea...  more »
  • Parking was a little convoluted due to construction of a new museum. The New museum lools like it will be awesome based on the model. Enjoyed the visit. Wish it had more China artifacts.  more »

  • The MFAH offers a great experience for first-time visitors and those of us who visit every few months. They frequently change what art is on display so there is always something new to see. Tips for Visiting: - It's free on Thursdays (excluding special exhibits). - There is complimentary coat and bag check. - Don't miss the light tunnel connecting the two buildings. - Upstairs in the Beck Building (the building with the gift shop), the art is arranged so that you can walk through history. Ask a curator to show you what room to start in. - The Beck Building has the art of the Western Civilization while the Law Building has the art of the rest of the world.
  • Oh I love coming here. My mother would bring me here as a child and we would sit in front of this one painting. Now as an adult I do the same. Hopefully one day my sons will as well. I also love the cafe. The tomato soup is always a favorite.
  • Check out the “Home - So Different, So Appealing” exhibit before it ends on January 21, 2018. Very well done with some very thought provoking pieces and powerful stories. Makes you pause and think of what makes a home, what life is like for the many without, and how striving for a home changes you. Make sure to see the piece of a sliver of a home, the piece made of clay, and the conversation between father and son in their different homes.
  • Free after 5pm on Thursdays. Great exhibits, join the mailing list to see upcoming exhibits. Parking garage is a bit pricey. Street parking takes is a challenge to find, allocate extra time to drive around. I'd suggest parking elsewhere and riding the METRO LightRail Train. Or parking at the McGovern Rose Garden a walking over a few blocks.
  • Wonderful place to visit. At the time I went with my niece's and the Oscar De La Renta exhibit was happening and really set a fashionable atmosphere. The Museum itself is filled with beauty and history that needs to be seen and experienced. Well worth going! We'll be going back!!

Where to stay in Houston

If you come to Houston to splurge while on holiday, book a luxurious room at a downtown hotel. This area is an ideal base for getting to know Houston, offering you a chance to stay within walking distance of one of the country's largest theater districts. Houston bills itself as the "Energy Capital of the World," so it's no surprise that it houses many "green" hotels, their garages designed to cater to electric vehicle owners. For something completely different, enjoy a Texas country experience at a working ranch outside the city limits.
