Springs Preserve, Las Vegas

4.3
#9 of 23 in Parks in Las Vegas
Get to know the life that thrives in a desert at Springs Preserve, which extends across 73 hectares (180 acres) interlaced with walkways. Based on Las Vegas' original water source, the preserve includes botanical gardens, galleries, and event venues. Take a stroll along themed trails to learn about the various vegetation that grows in the desert, or marvel at the colorful creatures in the butterfly garden. While there, make sure you catch the super-realistic "flash flood" show. Learn local history from photographs in the museum, change up the scenery and explore the wetland habitat, and see if you can catch a show in the indoor theater (check the website for information). If you get hungry, stop by the onsite cafe. Take a look at our Las Vegas trip itinerary builder to schedule your visit to Springs Preserve and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.

  • This is a lovely spot not too far from the strip (need a car to get there). The grounds were lovely and the cafe had very good food at reasonable prices.  more »

  • Love this place! Great exhibits that change every couple of months, terrific staff, clean facility, good food in the cafe that has nice views of Vegas. The Origin building has lots of hands-on exhibits for kids and plenty to see and do for adults too. A great place to visit any time of year. We have a family membership and visit often. They host special events throughout the year but buy tickets in advance because they always sell out!!
  • I love it here. This place has taught my 8 yr old, 4 yr old and 2 yr old alot. They love the animals and the jogging trails. They also loved the ice cream event you guys did back in May. We will definitely be back again!!
  • Springs Preserve is a great place to take the whole family, especially little ones who are interested to learn more about the Nevada landscape. A little oasis in Las Vegas, it is a great place to understand more about Nevada's natural history, as well as the flora and fauna indigenous to the area. They also have a museum inside which interestingly, had an exhibit about US Space endeavors throughout history, and had a wonderful movie about what it is like inside the ISS, as shown and told by a female American astronaut. It also had a little train exhibit, which was so incredibly adorable. Overall, very impressed by this place, and I would love to revisit.
  • The idea was a good one. The execution and design of the preserve as far as Handicapped people and over ease is lacking. Poorly laid out pathways. The park has a few outside event areas, but no events?? Kids had fun, but complained about getting grandma around was challenging. I was scratching my head on why they designed and rather nice park so poorly. It was fairly priced for locals. If I was from out of state it wouldn't be worth it. It was good to say we went to it. But my thoughts of getting passes left my mind rather quickly.
  • We spent almost 6 hours here, despite the heat. And there was much more we could have done. No butterfly exhibit during the summer. Both museums are great and so it the botanical garden which has both desert and wetland exhibits. The cafe was far superior to most found in museums, the gift shop attractive, and the volunteer docents knowledgeable.

Where to stay in Las Vegas

Most Las Vegas hotels increase their room rates on the weekends, so if you have a flexible schedule, avoid Fridays and Saturdays and take advantage of package deals that include shows, meals, and gambling coupons. Remember also that if you stay at any one of the lively casino hotels, you may not be able to get a good night's sleep for the duration of your trip. If you come to Vegas to stay but not necessarily play, try one of the non-gaming hotels or explore the quieter areas surrounding the city.
