Springs Preserve, Las Vegas

4.3
#9 of 22 in Parks in Las Vegas
Get to know the life that thrives in a desert at Springs Preserve, which extends across 73 hectares (180 acres) interlaced with walkways. Based on Las Vegas' original water source, the preserve includes botanical gardens, galleries, and event venues. Take a stroll along themed trails to learn about the various vegetation that grows in the desert, or marvel at the colorful creatures in the butterfly garden. While there, make sure you catch the super-realistic "flash flood" show. Learn local history from photographs in the museum, change up the scenery and explore the wetland habitat, and see if you can catch a show in the indoor theater (check the website for information). If you get hungry, stop by the onsite cafe. Take a look at our Las Vegas trip itinerary builder to schedule your visit to Springs Preserve and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.

  • Having lived in Las Vegas for over 15 years, and attended / worked in conjunction for a multitude of functions at Springs Preserve – I really wish there were more stars to give. An exemplary desert-themed attraction filled to the brim with enough wonder for all ages, gorgeous galleries and informational exhibitions, holiday events, gift shops as well as some amazing festivities & more. A sprawling 180 acres of nature walks / trails, the Desert Living Center and the Springs Preserve amphitheater (Las Vegas' only intimate outdoor venue) are our favorites. Discounted admission for members, the preserve continually offers interesting, imaginative and entertaining ways to learn and enjoy. Definitely the opposite of the Las Vegas themed attractions, this is by far one of the very best ways to spend your day, so far removed from the strip. By all costs, seek the preserve out – especially if you are also planning a beautiful outdoor wedding, or simply want to photograph some breathtaking scenery. Simply amazing.
  • Awesome place. The designer's and planners did an amazing job of providing walking paths, gardens, kid's areas, museums, and gift shop. I've been multiple times just to walk and enjoy the desert landscaping and still haven't made it through the whole property. I really enjoy the historic preservation spots. Just incredibly well done! The food in the cafe is delicious, too. A little pricey, but lathe enough proportions to share. I highly recommended Springs Preserve for families, individual walkers, and everyone in between.
  • This place is amazing! We did the Christmas train ride and it was great! You get to listen to a story, decorate cookies, make a hot chocolate reindeer, see Santa and ride the train! It was a great experience with my 2 year old and husband! Definitely will be going back next year! And it was only $10 for adults kids under 3 are free. We will go back during the spring too. This doesn't get you into Springs Preserve, only the Christmas train ride. They charge a separate fee for the entrance if you want to walk around and go into the different museums and such.
  • I was here for their Christmas Express event. It was a great thing to do! The even was a nice and short not too overwhelming event. They separate people by time slots allowing everyone to enjoy the Christmas Village. It was great, my kid loved it and we loved it.
  • We only had one hour to explore this place. I told that to the woman at admissions and she gave us free passes to explore the grounds (mostly the trails and gardens) so we would have a better sense of the place for next time we visited with more time. Even though it was during late fall and not as lively I imagine it could be during the spring/ summer, we really enjoyed our walk. My daughter had a great time in the playground (great for older kids, but also with options for younger ones). The place was bigger than I expected. I'm hoping to go back next time I'm in Las Vegas.

Where to stay in Las Vegas

Most Las Vegas hotels increase their room rates on the weekends, so if you have a flexible schedule, avoid Fridays and Saturdays and take advantage of package deals that include shows, meals, and gambling coupons. Remember also that if you stay at any one of the lively casino hotels, you may not be able to get a good night's sleep for the duration of your trip. If you come to Vegas to stay but not necessarily play, try one of the non-gaming hotels or explore the quieter areas surrounding the city.
